Who Am I?
As a US trained K-12 Special Education teacher, a CERI certified Structured Literacy Dyslexia Interventionist, and the founder of Dyslexia PowerUp, I am passionate about teaching children with Dyslexia to read, spell, and write with confidence. My life’s work is driven by the belief that every child has the right to learn to read and receive evidence-based literacy instruction and support, so they can succeed in both school and life. Based in Malaysia, I work exclusively online with families across Asia and globally.
I have twenty-three years of teaching experience working as an international school learning support specialist at premier international schools in Asia and the Middle East. Over more than three decades, I have worked with primary and middle school learners with a wide range of needs including general and specific learning disabilities, speech and language needs, attention disorder, executive functioning difficulties, social communication needs, social-emotional and behavioral difficulties, sensory processing issues, motor skill problems, and English language needs.
I have developed and managed school-based Learning Support and Special Education programs and services for students with diverse learning needs from grades 1 to 12 in international schools. I worked in partnership with parents and teachers by advising, guiding, coaching, and supporting them using the collaborative consultation model. I offered home intervention programs and school liaison services to local and expat families and provided testing services to homeschooling expat families.
Throughout my teaching career, I have always had a deep passion for working with children with Dyslexia. Becoming certified at the Associate level through the Orton-Gillingham Academy, USA reignited my lifelong passion and commitment to serving children with Dyslexia. I am currently completing the final practicum of my advanced Clinical level certification with the Orton-Gillingham Academy, designed to equip practitioners to work with learners with the most complex literacy profiles. I am also a certified EBLI Interventionist, delivering structured, evidence-based literacy instruction that accelerates learning and closes gaps efficiently.
I am a professional member of the Orton-Gillingham Academy (OGA, USA), International Dyslexia Association (IDA, USA), The Reading League (TRL, USA), and the Register of Educational Therapists Asia (RETA, Singapore). I am a verified service provider with IDA, CERI, OGA (USA), and RETA (Singapore).
I look forward to getting to know your child and supporting them on their journey to literacy success. It is my goal to change the trajectory of your child's life and to be a trusted source of guidance and support for you as a parent navigating the Dyslexia journey.

"I cannot recommend Rachel highly enough. Before we found her, my child struggled with reading for years and consistently performing below grade level, despite working with different tutors and trying a variety of different reading interventions. It was becoming incredibly challenging as my child was struggling in other areas too due to not being able to read proficiently.
From the beginning, it was clear that Rachel was different. She is incredibly knowledgeable about dyslexia, exceptionally thorough and deeply committed to her students’ success. She took the time to understand my child’s specific learning needs and developed a personalized plan that addressed the root of the challenges rather than just addressing the symptoms. Every lesson was thoughtful, engaging, and purposeful.
I’m really impressed by Rachel‘s willingness to go above and beyond. She was always prepared, communicated consistently about my child’s progress, and provided strategies we could use at home to reinforce learning. Her encouragement, patience, and unwavering commitment to my child’s learning helped me support my child in a collaborative process to ensure her progress.
The results have been remarkable! After years of being below grade level, despite multiple interventions, my child is now reading on grade level and achieved grade level performance on nationwide standardized testing.
Rachel has made a lasting difference, not only in my child’s academic achievements, but also in their confidence. If you are looking for someone with the expertise, dedication, and compassion to help a child with dyslexia reach their full potential, I wholeheartedly recommend her. She has been a true gift to our family."
"Since N____ began his classes with you, we have observed clear and encouraging improvements in his reading ability. His decoding skills, reading confidence, and overall comfort with reading have progressed noticeably, and he now approaches reading tasks with greater ease and motivation. These improvements have been consistent and have made a meaningful difference in his learning.
We believe this progress is a direct result of your structured, methodical approach and your ability to engage N____ in a way that keeps him focused and confident. Your clear explanations, patience, and individualized support have helped him build stronger foundational reading skills while also boosting his self-confidence as a learner.
We have been very pleased with the quality of instruction and the positive outcomes we have seen so far, and we truly value the work you are doing with N____. We would not hesitate to recommend you to other families close to us, considering EBLI or similar support for their children."
" I am writing this letter not only as a parent, but as someone who has walked a long, difficult journey raising a dyslexic child. If you are feeling exhausted, unsure, or even discouraged, I want you to know that I understand and I want to share why Miss Abraham has been such an extraordinary part of our lives.
Miss Abraham is not merely a teacher who teaches reading. She is far more than that. She guided my son, A____, through an emotional journey that, as a parent, I sometimes did not know how to guide myself. She understood his fears, frustrations, and resistance, and she
met him with patience, empathy, and quiet strength.
When A____ first began lessons with her, he could not read. Years of school complaints, repeated frustrations, and emotional setbacks had taken a toll on both of us. There were moments when I felt helpless and deeply discouraged as a parent. At times, I almost lost motivation after facing so many disappointments. Miss Abraham did not only support my
child , she supported me. She helped me understand my role as a parent better, guided me emotionally, and slowly rebuilt my belief that my son could succeed.
There were moments when she believed in A____ more than I did. She never dismissed his struggles, yet she never allowed them to define him. Through carefully planned strategies, personalised learning, and genuine care, she helped A____ grow not just academically, but
emotionally. Over time, that belief became mine too. And today, that belief has been proven.
A____ is now a fluent reader, the fear and hopelessness that once surrounded reading are gone. Even now, after online sessions with Miss Abraham have ended, she remains very much present in his heart. He still speaks about her and says, without hesitation, that she is
the best teacher he has ever had and always will be. As a parent, I am deeply touched knowing that she has become part of his most meaningful and positive memories of learning.
Because of Miss Abraham, a great weight has been lifted from my shoulders. Some of my deepest worries have eased. She gave my child confidence, and she gave me hope. That is a gift I can never fully repay.
If you are looking for someone who will not only teach your child how to read, but will also walk alongside your child and you with patience, compassion, and unwavering belief, I give Miss Abraham my strongest recommendation.
She is not just a teacher. She is a guide, a companion, and a blessing to families like ours."
"Rachel is one of those teachers you come across once in a great while. She is loved by students and parents. A____ loves her because she is kind, loving, fun, and cares about him. Rachel gets to know him in her class as a whole person. She is able to see exactly what my son needs for his future and her whole teaching approach involves finding and using A____’s unique strengths to help him overcome his struggles and develop a positive self-concept. My son had some behavioral problems in his earlier grades. A____ has however shown a marked improvement over the last 6 months under Rachel guidance with an improvement in both his reading and behavior. The change in his performance I believe is a direct result of Rachel’s ability to both understand and guide my son using positive reinforcement and encouragement in a way that suited his individual needs."
"Rachel is extremely competent, highly intelligent, and develops lessons that are diagnostic in nature. Her structured and systematic approach to teach provides students with the skills necessary to find success. Rachel is a warm and caring instructor who understands the social and emotional needs of children."
"Miss Abraham's work with students is professional, comprehensive and effective. She is respected by classroom teachers for her work with students. She is well liked by her students, showing concern for their individual needs as well as a keen interest in seeing them succeed. She is well qualified in administering educational, behavioral and diagnostic testing for admission, screening, placement, progress review and consultancy purposes. She also has much experience in writing comprehensive reports and making clear recommendations for elementary to high school age students.
Miss Abraham works passionately, and thoroughly, often going the extra mile. This is reflected in her comprehensive reports, support and lesson plans, the regular monitoring of student progress, and the frequent, honest and direct communication with teachers, parents, and students. Her colleagues rated her on a colleague feedback survey as a competent person who is committed to excellence, pays attention to details, performs consistently, and as an honest person who demonstrates integrity, in word and action.
Miss Abraham's communication with parents, teachers and administration is one of her greatest strengths. Her report writing on each student is excellent and she sends timely emails and letters and holds meetings when needed. The documentation produced on each student is informative and comprehensive and reflects very well on her personally."
